Monthly Cd Exchange!

What is the Monthly Cd Exchange you ask? Ahh it's a wonderful thing where two friends from quite different musical backgrounds :: cough indie kid / mansonite cough :: share and recommend 1 Cd every month for the other to buy. Hopefully this Cd Challenge will open new musical doors and create an interest in bands that would otherwise be missed.

Month 1: June 09
My Cd: The Postal Service ~ Give UP

Tracklist:
1. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight
2. Such Great Heights
3. Sleeping In
4. Nothing Better
5. Recycled Air
6. Clark Gable
7. We Will Become Silhouettes
8. This Place is a Prison
9. Brand New Colony
10. Natural Anthem

Death Cab for Cutie's singer Ben Gibbard branches out to the electro indie-pop genre with The Postal Service's "Give Up"; the catchy beats and Gibbard's light vocals make this Cd an easy and enjoyable listen. The boppy intro to "A Brand New Colony" will be stuck in your heads for hours, but even after that you wont mind going home and giving it a few plays on repeat. I quite like this album as it has the quirky electronic elements without it being over the top and, dare I say...wanky.

I already had a burnt copy of this Cd, so I am familiar with most of the songs. My favourite songs on this album would have to be: Brand New Colony, The District Sleeps Alone Tonight and Sleeping In. It's nice to finally have a hard copy of this Cd as the booklet and visual elements make the listening experience that much stronger!

My beautiful sister Natalie

This is a picture of my beautiful sister Natalie who is 7 months pregnant. She is currently living in Kununurra and our family haven't seen her gorgeous baby bump! I can't wait for her to come back to Ballarat (which is in less than 1 week!)

Holiday fun ^_^

I am just loving being on Holidays! It's so nice being able to hang out with Bradley, my friends, sleep and relax without having to worry about briefs I should be completing and deadlines that have to be meet. During my holidays I am:

* Buying pretty things

* Playing Sims 3

* Reading; the Perks of being a Wallflower / In the Lake of the Woods / Chasing Harry Winston

* Sleeping In

* Working (must make money for all the pretty things I am buying :P)

* Catching up with people I haven't hung out with for awhile

* Work Experience @ RU Advertising (woo can't wait!! :D)

Relaxation is beautiful

Monday 11.30am I was able to take deep breath, smile to myself and walk away from a complete folio sitting on my desk at Camp Street Campus! Oh how wonderful it was to know this was the start of my holidays... What glorious plans do I have for the holidays you ask! Ahh before we get into that I would like to have a littl recap of my folio and show some of my completed works :)

Finals of YummiMummi between meal snack packaging.
I am really happy how they turned out ^_^ The three colours look really good and I love the simple logo.

Sovereign Press packaging.
They wanted to create a "thank you" send out to their clients for the end of year. The package needed to contact items a graphic designer would find useful and use on a day-to-day basis. The packages and contents also needed to displays Sovereign Press' capabilities when it comes to Print Finishes.

YummiMummi Sweet Snack

I am quite happy with how the Sweet Snack YummiMummi package looks.
The lid completes the package as it now looks like an actual snack food!
The lid is made from self-drying clay which I painted pink :)
Anywho must be back to folio! ^_^

Procrastination...

"...We have a task before us which must be speedily performed. We know that it will be ruinous to make delay. The most important crisis of our life calls, trumpet-tongued, for immediate energy and action. We glow, we are consumed with eagerness to commence the work, with the anticipation of whose glorious result our whole souls are on fire. It must, it shall be undertaken to-day, and yet we put it off until to-morrow, and why? There is no answer, except that we feel perverse, using the word with no comprehension of the principle. To-morrow arrives, and with it a more impatient anxiety to do our duty, but with this very increase of anxiety arrives, also, a nameless, a positively fearful, because unfathomable, craving for delay. This craving gathers strength as the moments fly. The last hour for action is at hand. We tremble with the violence of the conflict within us, -- of the definite with the indefinite -- of the substance with the shadow..." Edgar Allan Poe

Ah is it ironic I am reading a explanation of procrastinating whiiile procrastinating :P

YummiMummi

Here are a couple of shots of my Southern Cross Packaging brief. I chose the Between Meal Snack packaging. My sister is pregnant so I wanted to create a snack food that pregnant women could indulge on during the day that gave them that burst of energy while still being healthy for them and their baby. YummiMummi comes in three flavours; Sweet, Savoury, and Special Diet Vegan. The package if sectioned into two separate areas (like a multi-flavoured dip packet.) One section will hold the dried fruit / nuts, the other will house a delicious cake of some sort :)

Love, Love, Love

Now I'm a liiiitle bit of a pattern geek! I stumbled across these two designs when looking up "things that inspire me" and you guessed it! Patterns and fabric design was on that list :)

I Love the butterfly pattern on the front pillow. It's so feminine and classy but doesn't have that cold edge many black and white patterns do; it's natural but structured. I'm really into patterns that include leaves, trees, birds and animals at the moment. When the uni holidays commence I am going to play around with some yardage designs of Jungle Animals. My sister is pregnant and I think it would be so special to make my own pattern for her little baby!

This chair is gorgeous! May I steal it? I don't mind if I go to jail...but as long as I get to take this chair with me. Love the traditional pattern, the colour, the chair details. It's so beautiful. This makes me want to buy a dresser and a pretty jewellery box.

Ah sleepies now ZzZzZ

P.s I am getting a little worried about folio :/

My fun includes:

* Pouring my money into the toy claw machines
* and you Guessed It! WINNING toys from the claw machines (Not just 1, 2 toys!!)

Long time no see!

I feel a little bad.. I have neglected this blog for quite some time.

It probably has something to do with the fact I haven't sewn or been to any craft markets lately. So I've decided this blog is not only going to feature my craft pieces/ideas but also my Graphic Design work and random babble...

Quite a lot has happened since my last post.
- I am now 21
- I am in my 3rd (and final) year of study
- I am only weeks (2 to be precise) away from my Semester 1 folio
- I am looking forward to finishing my course and working for a studio or freelancing
- I want to travel (UK, Scandinavia. I <3>
- Oh and I updated my blog banner and colour scheme ;)

I find my inspiration comes from a lot of different things these days, they have always been motivating factors of my personality and work but as things are always moving and changing; my tastes always shift too...

I look forward to posting here again as I often experience blog envy
