I've had my second class of Ceramics for the semester, and as predicted I am not the most talented Ceramics student! haha
The project I am working on at the moment is Project 1: Masks
We are to create a set of three masks that can be used as a wall mounted piece.
Due to my absolute LOVE of Venitian Masquerade Carnivals I am going to make Venitian masks based on the short story The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe
(http://www.online-literature.com/poe/36/)
Plans so far consist of three masks, one dedicated to the character of the Red Death and two dedicated to the character of Prince Prospero. The two on Prince Prospero have been greatly inspired by the Greek tragedy happy/sad masks.
The "Happy" mask will represent Prince Prospero during his marvelous Masquerade Ball.
The "Sad" mask will represent Prince Prospero after the Red Death make his presence felt at Prince Prospero's party..
"Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all"
